Something about myself

There's an old tyme glass mason jar on my kitchen counter next to the fridge filled with folded, half used, seed packets. An old Ball brand jar with a golden metal lid beside my royal blue t-fal toaster. It shines like a gem. Many of the seeds are now set well in the garden beds around the house. Lettuce is comming up all over along with onion sets. Dick and I have had a busy day getting the last details just right and finishing up the season opener for our garden.

Tomatoe bed is absolutely packed full. Peppers, oregano, and a few beans crowded in together on the south side of the patio. We set the last of the cucumber bed in today. Three varieties as well as some hot peppers, onions, and lettuce. Even some kale packed into the corner. The flower bed is holding the herbs as well; marigolds, allisum, egyptian onions, chives, mint, thyme, cilantro, rosemary, lavender, dill and some purple flowers who's name escapes me at the moment. They are ment to flow over the edge of planters. I used them to frame out a huge pot put together today.

Grandma Polly must have stopped by, there are two yellow pear cherry tomaote plants on the patio. I've planted them in a huge planter along with a framing of those purple flowers to spill over the sides. Should be a beautiful site those bitesized sweet yellow tomatoes in the center of a ring of tiny purple flowers over the edges. I was born on mothers day 1973, it was also my fathers 20th birthday... am i good or what.

Tune into the evening news as I assemble a ham sandwich that is begining to look like a work of art. Fresh tomatoes from the veggie guy at flea market. Two bucks a basket! What a deal. Lettuce, local cheese, and mayo this looks like it was made by someone who spent the day full out in the earth. Running the bath. Dick and I will have a soak before a sunset trail ride.

Now you happen across some funny sights owning a ferret but let me share one of my very favorites. I pull a sleepy Dick from his hammock. A streach as he yawns. Into the soak of the full tub his fur puffs up totally. Every strand extended as does his legs all four fully strait out along with his tail. He just floats along looking like a fully inflated macey's day float! OMG I crack up every time i see it. Just waddleing along softly. Floating with out a care in the world. I belive he would stat like this for the full bath if I did not pester him with shampoo et al.

Soaking wet Dick runs off to curl up in the folded comforter by the couch to finish drying off from his soak. After I am out and dry I find him there a fluffy ball ready to be brushed out and claim his treats. We head out for a ride on the bike trail.

65 degrees, clear blue skies, and ever slight a breeze. WOW what a perfect setting for a sunset ride. Absolutely PERFECT! My sore back from gardening melts away once we are gliding through the trees. Refreshed, clean, full bellies, and wearing a huge grin ear to ear. Suprisingly not alot of traffic. Many must be having BBQ with family for mothers day I suppose. For some odd reason the wind feels great on my skin and with John Lennon singing a rally in my ear I push off at top speed. I'm no racer but a good stomp feels great from time to time.

Resting across from the orchard near Clyde I spot a miniature butterfly perched perfectly on a tall blade of grass. Dick is uninterested. He is completely relaxed and curled up in my arms as we sit on the bench and soak in the evening sun. Heading back it seems all the dandylions have gone to seed at once and their fine hairs are glowing white with sunshine behind them. It looks like a field of bright glistening snow. Furher on into the trees near Fremont the sun begins to set. Coloring the high clouds to the west with brilliant light. What a treat to see such a thing.

Back at home for the night. Absolutely and fully content. Dick and I will have a great rest tonight. He is asleep back on his hammock and I am unfolding the comforter as my mind is full of gratitude for a wonderful day with my buddy.

Peace,
Rick and Dick
